Crispy Seed Bread: Snack Delicious, Nourishing and Easy
Eating is one of the most fundamental things we do every day, yet so much of it is shaped by habit, social norms, and emotional responses rather than actual nourishment. How often do we eat based on cravings or nostalgia for past experiences rather than what our body truly needs?
This recipe is an invitation to rethink eating—not as an emotional or social reflex, but as a way to fuel and support our bodies, minds, and even our communities. Choosing nutrient-dense, simple, and whole-foods helps us make the most of every meal, ensuring that our time, money, and energy are well spent.
This crispy seed bread is a perfect example of delicious and mindful eating. It features protein, fibre, and healthy fats, making it a great option for steady energy and satiety. Free from gluten and processed flours, it’s a nutrient-dense alternative to traditional bread. It’s simple to make, easy to store, and incredibly versatile. My whole family loves it—kids included! It’s delicious plain but also pairs beautifully with nut butter, chia jam, cashew cheese, or pesto. It makes a fantastic snack or base for creative toppings, and best of all, it’s easy to make in a big batch—perfect for meal prep.

150 ml almonds
-
1 tsp baking powder
-
1 tsp salt
-
300 ml mixed seeds (such as sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, etc.)

Roughly grind the remaining seeds and mix them in.

Preheat the oven to 140°C fan.

Place each portion on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Use cling film to cover the dough and roll it out evenly across the whole tray, rolling the dough very thing here. Cut you desired slice-sizes with a knife.
-
Bake for 60 minutes until crispy and golden.
- Store in an airtight container—if you can resist eating it all at once! 😄
Rethinking How We Eat
This seed bread is more than just a recipe; it’s an approach to eating with intention. When we shift our mindset from eating for pleasure alone to eating for nourishment, we make better choices—ones that serve our bodies long-term. Instead of reaching for foods that satisfy immediate cravings, we can choose ingredients that give us real, lasting energy, and tastes good.
The mind, body, and community all play a role in this. Mindfully eating means questioning our food choices and making decisions based on what we truly need. Body awareness helps us tune in to what fuels us best. And when we share and enjoy food that supports health, we influence those around us—especially our families. At first, those around you might think you're being overly health-conscious or even a little boring, but over time, they will likely follow along. When you prioritise your health, you become the best version of yourself—the biggest battery in the room—setting the standard for others to be inspired and make better choices, too.
So next time you prepare a meal or snack, ask yourself: Is this truly serving me? This crispy seed bread certainly does, and I hope it becomes a staple in your kitchen as it has in mine.
Enjoy! 😊
